eChanter

The Open Source Electronic Bagpipe Chanter

The eChanter aims to bridge the gap between the commercial products and the DIY projects, while meeting fourbasic goals:

  1. "Open Design" that can be made by anyone with basic electronics skills
  2. Costs less than $75 in materials
  3. Use minimal number of components
  4. Use the Arduino platform for software control
The guides linked as Subpages here detail making an eChanter, and currently include the original Protoype and a
more detailed (photo intensive) guide to Making an eChanter (Simple Touch Switch eChanter). A more sophisticated
version is underway that will enable slides and trills, so keep checking back!

In keeping with the open source concept, I strongly encourage others to make an eChanter, improve it, and
contribute their improvements and ideas to the project.

The latest source code and schematics are available for download at the eChanter SourceForge SVN repository (web browser access is here).
