The Open Source Electronic Bagpipe Chanter
The eChanter aims to bridge the gap between the commercial products and the DIY projects, while meeting fourbasic goals:
- "Open Design" that can be made by anyone with basic electronics skills
- Costs less than $75 in materials
- Use minimal number of components
- Use the Arduino platform for software control
The guides linked as Subpages here detail making an eChanter, and currently include the original Protoype and a
more detailed (photo intensive) guide to Making an eChanter (Simple Touch Switch eChanter). A more sophisticated
version is underway that will enable slides and trills, so keep checking back!
In keeping with the open source concept, I strongly encourage others to make an eChanter, improve it, and
contribute their improvements and ideas to the project.
